Comments & User Interactions

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor's IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Data collected during user interactions includes:

  • Name and email address submitted via comment forms
  • IP address and browser user agent string for spam detection
  • An anonymized hash of your email address for Gravatar verification

Media & Uploads

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Before uploading any images, please strip EXIF GPS metadata using a photo editor or a dedicated EXIF removal tool to protect your physical location privacy.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to allow automated spam-approval workflows to function correctly.

For registered users, the personal information provided in their user profile is stored securely. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit this information.
